About Boston - Simmons University

Simmons University was founded in 1899 as a private women’s undergraduate university. It is located in the Fenway just outside of downtown Boston. The Fenway is home to several other notable universities, as well as the world-famous Boston Red Sox baseball stadium, Fenway Park.

Due to its central location, Simmons is easily accessible by public transport with Boston city center a short 20 minute journey. Our busy excursion programme we will see us travelling every day for this program, including 5 half-day and 2 full-day excursions per week (for 14-night programs or greater). Excursions include major attractions such as the Boston Common, the New England Aquarium, and Fenway Park, as well as sights of historic note, with Boston being the first true ‘city’ in the United States and the center of much of our struggle for independence. In addition, we will visit Academic institutions such as Harvard and MIT, which are just across the river in Cambridge.

The Residence facilities feature lounges, kitchens, and an enclosed ‘quad’ or green space where students can relax or socialize safely and easily. One of the nation’s top hospitals is next door, and the Back Bay Fens, a large public green space with parks, athletic fields and part of the river, is just across the street. It is an ideal location with just enough urban feel while still being safe, clean and pleasant.
